Graphene Tattoo Allows People To Monitor Their Health

The University of Texas has developed a graphene-based tattoo that functions as a wearable electronic device and allows people to monitor their health. Given that graphene is one of the strongest and thinnest materials on the planet, which conducts heat and electricity better than copper, the ink-thin device will eliminate the restrictions in movement brought about by current bulky, uncomfortable health-monitoring devices. Electrical signals produced by the body will be transmitted via the tattoo to a smartphone application, allowing patients to monitor their health status on a regular basis.

As the price of graphene begins to fall, it is hoped that such devices will become affordable to the general public and will have wide applications in healthcare throughout the world.
