In March 2012, Washington, D.C. correspondent Doug Luzader appeared on Fox 7 Austin’s morning show to discuss the Republican primary results following Super Tuesday, a significant day — and, undoubtedly, a long and exhausting day for political reporters due to its constant coverage — in the run-up to the presidential election. It was here that Luzader (at a little over 5:30 a.m.) appeared to be fast asleep while live on air, whereby leaving news anchor Joe Bickett talking to himself.
Doug Luzader later claimed that, in fact, he wasn’t asleep, but rather looking down and reading without his earpiece in. Needless to say, the footage was witnessed hundreds of thousands of times within only a few days.
