In 2015, a homeless man, Donald Gould, treated passers-by to a rendition of “Come Sail Away” on a community piano in Downtown Sarasota, Florida. Formerly in the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as a student of music education at Michigan’s Spring Arbor University, Gould developed a problem with addiction and became homeless following the sudden death of his wife in 1998 — he subsequently lost custody of their three-year-old son.
Taken aback by the piano-playing skills of Donald Gould, bystander Aurore Henry decided to film him and post the video to YouTube. It amassed over 2 million ‘likes’ in just two days.
