Amusing, Subversive Stickers Begin To Appear Throughout The London Underground

In 2012, passengers on the London Underground — London’s tedious, depression-inducing transit system which serves approximately 1.3 billion people per annum — were given quite the welcomed surprise when a series of humorous, guerrilla stickers began to appear both on trains and in stations. Using the same designs and fonts as the Underground’s famous branding, the intention of the stickers was to bring amusement and enjoyment to commuters’ otherwise miserable journeys.

Unsurprisingly, the British Transport Police were not impressed by such a stunt. They warned: “The costs of graffiti are substantial for the railway industry in terms of repairs and clean-up, and can leave permanent scars on the infrastructure.”
