Patrick Vale Proceeds To Draw The NYC Skyline: A Time-Lapse Video Of “Colossus”

In 2015, London-based artist Patrick Vale set about drawing the New York City skyline for a project entitled Colossus. NYC. 2015. Having developed a love of architecture (particularly that of NYC) from a young age, and fuelled by bagels and many cups of coffee, Vale spent four weeks — an afternoon videoing, photographing and sketching the city while atop the Rockefeller Centre, and the remainder in a studio — perfecting his colossal masterpiece.

He describes the experience: “I spent a very cold afternoon on top of a very tall building in New York. The view was jaw-dropping.” Major clients of his include BMW, Apple, Empire Magazine, and Virgin.
