Falling Down: One Man’s Meltdown In A Fast-Food Restaurant After Missing The Breakfast Menu By Several Minutes

In the following 5-minute clip, taken from Joel Schumacher’s 1993 thriller Falling Down, one middle-aged man’s (Michael Douglas) day, which sees said man confronted and accosted by two gang members as well as getting involved in an altercation with a white supremacist at a military surplus store, goes from bad to worse when he is refused the breakfast menu at a fast-food restaurant after missing the cut-off point by only a few minutes. Tension is heightened further when he is served, as he describes, a “sorry, miserable, squashed thing”, not the burger as advertised on the menu, one which is “plump”, “juicy” and “3 inches thick”.

Falling Down sees both Michael Douglas (The Game, Wall Street, Traffic) at his most ferocious and most menacing and Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys, A Time To Kill, Phone Booth) before we, unfortunately, lost him to a steady stream of critically panned, lacklustre films.
