Born in South Korea, Mi Ju is an internationally acclaimed and exhibited artist who currently resides and works in Brooklyn, New York. Describing her work as an “improvisation in liminality [an anthropological term referring to a quality of disorientation or ambiguity which arises during the middle stage of a ritual]: between dream and concretized, ancient and contemporary, Korea and the West, ephemeral and eternal, the uncensored and codified”, Mi effortlessly blends vibrant colours and bizarre and, at times, fearsome imagery to produce visionary works of unmitigated uniqueness, works which will amaze yet disturb, eliciting visceral blows but, at the same time, feelings of whimsy and quaintness.

Mi’s distinct style has seen her exhibited in galleries throughout the world, from San Francisco to Copenhagen, Los Angeles to Seoul, as well as her work acquired by the prestigious Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, a non-profit arts foundation in Los Angeles which has housed works by such artists as Cézanne, Picasso, Rothko, Warhol, to name but a few.
