Skydivers Escape Mid-Air Plane Collision

The following footage, which was captured by a helmet camera in 2013 and obtained exclusively by NBC News, shows the moment two planes suffer a mid-air crash in Wisconsin, US, causing one of the planes to break apart in an eruption of flames and prompting nine skydivers and one pilot to make emergency jumps at 12,000 feet while fiery debris falls to the ground.

Miraculously, both pilots, one of whom managed to land the trailing plane successfully (despite damage to the propeller and wing), and all nine skydivers survived what could have been a fatal collision. When asked by Matt Lauer on The Today Show whether they would continue with the extreme sport, they told how the incident, as harrowing an ordeal as one might expect, hasn’t deterred them.
