Garrett McNamara Surfs World-Record 100-ft. Wave

In 2013, Garrett McNamara, an extreme waterman from Massachusetts, USA, while attempting to break his own 2011 world-record wave of 78 feet, surfed a 100-ft. wave in Nazaré, Portugal, which was the location of his previous record and is considered a hotspot for surfing enthusiasts worldwide.

Formed above an underwater canyon that is regarded as the world’s biggest wave generator, the colossal wave rode by McNamara, who honed his craft while living on the North Shore of Hawaii, famed for its giant swells, gained him international recognition in the world of extreme water sports.
