How To Quit A Job Like Kevin Spacey

(Warning: Strong language featured)

In the following clip, taken from Sam Mendes’ Academy Award-winning film American Beauty (1999), Kevin Spacey, like he does in the majority of his films (especially his 90s films: Se7en, Swimming With Sharks, Usual Suspects, etc.), displays a masterclass in dark, comedic acting.

Performing one of my all-time favourite screenplays, Spacey shows the underappreciated, neglected and, quite simply, pissed-off office workers of the world (in this case, “[whores] of the advertising industry”) how to stand up and be counted, no longer being a pawn in someone else’s chess game and striving for a life of self-fulfillment.
